Craig Fabrics was founded in 1977 as an extension of Aristocrat Textiles, established in 1936, and represents the fourth generation of this family-owned business. Aristocrat developed a loyal following among the fashion industry during the 60's for its exquisite custom embroidery and quilting, working closely with legendary designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Anne klein, Chester Weinberg and avant-garde designer Rudi Gernreich. Winner of numerous Vogue Fabric and Technical Achievement Awards, the company earned a permanent place in the textile exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Craig Goldman recognized the need to translate the high fashion specialty techniques to the world of interior design textiles. Craig Fabrics uses five enormous Shiffli machines, invented in Switzerland in the 1800's . These machines contain hundreds of needles which can produce highly detailed patterns. Drawing  from decades of technical expertise to create intricate quilted and embroidered designs, as well as decorative applique and embellishments including pearls, Studs and Swarovski Crystals. All Designs can be applied on a variety of textiles, ranging from delicate organza  to ultra Suede. The results are subtle and dramatic, adding an element of dimension and texture to upholstery or drapery Fabric. Customized designs are a specialty with Craig Fabrics.
